What is Stripe

Much like PayPal, Stripe is one of the world’s leading payment platforms. Companies such as Target, Lyft, and Amazon use it to facilitate payments. Tagg partners with Stripe to ensure you are paid in a secure and timely fashion following each of your jobs.

How to set up payments

On the last step when creating your profile (Step 7) you will be asked to set up payments through Stripe. When you click, “Next” on this page, you will be redirected to Stripe and walked through the payment configuration process. After you complete payment setup, you will be taken back to Tagg. Follow the steps below to set up payments correctly.:

Step 1: Select your Type of entity. Since you are using Tagg as an independent contractor, you will select “Individual, sole proprietor, or single member LLC”. Enter your mobile phone number and email as well.

Step 2: Next, you will be sent a code via text message to verify your phone number. Enter the code you receive.

Step 3: Next you will be asked to enter your legal name, email address, home address, and social security number (To read more about Stripe security, you can do so here)

Step 4: Since you are using Tagg as an independent contractor, Stripe will ask you for a business website. On this page, click “Add product description instead” and enter “Substitute Teacher.”

Step 5: Then, you will be asked to add banking information in order for Tagg to facilitate payments to you for each sub job you complete.

Step 6: Finally, you will be asked to review your information. After you have reviewed everything, click the “submit” button and you will be redirected back to Tagg. You can now receive payments.

When will I get paid?

The typical payment period takes between 11 to 16 days from the day the job occurred. First, it processes in Tagg for 4 days, then it will process in Stripe for an additional 7-12 days. The reason it works this way is so that schools are able to cancel a transaction in Tagg if they notice a discrepancy (e.g. the sub never actually showed or didn’t stay for a full day). When it says “Payments made daily” in Stripe, this simply means that your money will be deposited on the day that the above process ends.

Please understand that we do not have control over how long Stripe takes to process payments. For this reason, sometimes deposits may take longer than usual. Stripe does not process payments on Saturday and Sunday, so jobs that occur on Friday may take longer. Additionally, most banks deposit payouts into accounts as soon as they are received, but some may take a few extra days to make them available. Please let us know if you have any other questions about payments. We are happy to help!
